Sam Claflin joins Keira Knightley and Alicia Vikander in 'The Worst'

Keira Knightley and Alicia Vikander’s upcoming dark comedy 'The Worst' adds major new cast members

Production is officially underway on The Worst, the upcoming dark comedy starring Keira Knightley and Alicia Vikander, with several high-profile actors joining the ensemble cast, according to a report by Variety.

The film, described as a sharp class satire, has added Sam Claflin, Tom Hollander, Anthony Boyle, Josh Finan, Anna Maxwell Martin, Dustin Demri-Burns, Sian Clifford, Zackary Momoh and Eka Chavleishvili to its growing roster. The newly announced cast joins Knightley, Vikander and Erin Kellyman, who were previously confirmed for the project.

Written and directed by Simon Woods in his feature directorial debut, The Worst is currently filming in the south of France. The movie centres on wealthy socialite Emily Fisher, played by Vikander, and her husband Max, portrayed by Hollander, who invite a group of affluent friends to their newly acquired French château for an elegant evening gathering.

However, tensions quickly emerge among the guests. Knightley stars as Holly, a struggling diversity consultant whose clashes with fellow attendees contribute to an increasingly chaotic night. Claflin plays her husband Jim, while Boyle takes on the role of Danny, a talent agent known for constantly name-dropping his celebrity clients.

As hidden rivalries, personal conflicts and long-buried secrets begin to surface, the gathering spirals into disorder. Kellyman’s character, Niamh, a waitress caught in the middle of the unfolding drama, becomes an unexpected witness to the group’s unraveling relationships.

According to the official synopsis shared by Variety, The Worst explores themes of privilege, power and performative morality through dark humour and social commentary. The project is being produced by Eclipse Films and Promise Pictures, with international sales handled by Protagonist Pictures and Logical Pictures Group.
