Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann attended 'Elle' premiere, marking rare public appearance together

Reese Witherspoon and Oliver Haarmann made a rare public appearance together at the world premiere of Elle in New York City on June 23, with a source telling PEOPLE that the couple are “very much in love”.

The actress attended the launch of Prime Video’s upcoming series Elle, a spinoff centred on a younger version of her Legally Blonde character, Elle Woods.

Witherspoon, 50, wore a bright pink lace dress for the occasion, while Haarmann, 58, coordinated with a pink tie, white shirt and navy suit jacket.

The appearance marked the couple’s first major public outing together since they were first linked in 2024. Photographs from the event showed the pair holding hands and smiling as they arrived.

According to a source quoted by PEOPLE, the couple prefer to keep their relationship private despite making occasional public appearances.

“Reese and Oliver are very private, they don't do PDA and both agree they don't want the world in their personal lives,” the source said. “They are very committed to each other and supportive of each other.”

The source added that the pair favour spending time together away from public attention.

“They would much rather have a night at home together or small dinner parties they have thrown for their friends to meet,” they said.

“When they're together it's clear they are both very sharp, they both have similar intelligent energies and it really is beautiful for her friends to see. Reese and Oliver have been meeting each other's friends and families over the last few months and are very much in love.”

Witherspoon and Haarmann were first linked in July 2024 after being spotted having dinner together in New York.

In September 2025, a source told PEOPLE that the relationship was “very special to her”, adding that Haarmann was supportive and uninterested in the Hollywood spotlight.

Also attending the Elle premiere was Witherspoon’s son, Deacon, who posed with his mother on the red carpet before joining her and Haarmann at the after-party.

Elle is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on July 1.
