Separate incidents leave two dead

RAWALPINDI:

Two people, including a woman, were murdered in separate incidents while the body of a woman was recovered from a rented residential property in the city on Tuesday, police said.

In the first case, a woman was allegedly shot dead by her brother after repeatedly refusing to return to her husband's home despite family efforts to reconcile the couple.

According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Dhammial Police Station. Complainant Muhammad Altaf stated that his daughter, Aafita Bibi, had been married in Attock and was the mother of a five-year-old son. He said she had been residing with her parents for approximately 18 months following a dispute with her husband.

The complainant alleged that his son, Hashir Ali, had repeatedly urged his sister to return to her husband and restore her marriage, but she remained reluctant o do so. On the night of the incident, the family was at home when they heard several gunshots from inside a room.

Upon entering, they found Aafita Bibi lying in a pool of blood with fatal gunshot wounds. Hashir Ali, who was allegedly holding a pistol, fled the scene. Police registered a murder case and are searching for the suspect.

In another incident, reported within the limits of RA Bazaar Police Station, a domestic dispute allegedly escalated into a fatal attack between brothers.

According to complainant Muhammad Usman, an argument broke out between his uncles, Ashfaq and Tahir, over a mobile phone charger. The dispute intensified despite attempts by family members to intervene.

During the altercation, Ashfaq allegedly threatened to kill his brothers before pushing Usman's father, Mushtaq, to the ground and striking him on the head with an axe.

The injured man was being transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries en route. Police said the suspect fled the scene following the attack. The complainant alleged that longstanding family tensions relating to Ashfaq's marital dispute had contributed to the incident.

In a third case, Pirwadhai Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from a rented house in Awan Colony. Police said the body, wrapped in cloth, appeared to be approximately one week old and was in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police said investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
