Religious leaders gather at solidarity breakfast

Religious leaders from different faiths and schools of thought gathered at Nolakha Presbyterian Church for a 'Muharram solidarity breakfast' aimed at promoting peace, religious tolerance, mutual respect and interfaith harmony during the month.
The host, Dr Majeed Abel, said on the occasion that Muharram teaches the values of patience, sacrifice, compassion and humanity.
He said the gathering from different faiths to promote peace and brotherhood reflected the shared commitment of Pakistan's citizens to coexist with mutual respect and harmony.
He added that maintaining peace during Muharram is a collective responsibility.
Archbishop Dr Azad Marshall and Father James Channan highlighted the importance of interfaith dialogue and joint initiatives in fostering trust, respect and understanding among people of different religions.
Maulana Asim Makhdoom and Mufti Ashiq Hussain stressed the universal message of truth, justice and steadfastness. They urged people from all schools of thought to promote unity, patience and brotherhood during Muharram.
Professor Sohail Ahmed said religious scholars, faith leaders and social organisations have a vital role to play in promoting interfaith harmony.
