Ombudsperson's delegation powers examined

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the Attorney General for Pakistan, seeking assistance on a key legal question concerning the delegation of statutory powers by the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment.

Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar passed the written order while hearing a petition filed by Dr Rizwan Taj, who has challenged an order issued by the harassment ombudsperson on October 10. The court also suspended the impugned order pending further proceedings.
