Child swept away in drain

RAWALPINDI:

A tragic incident occurred during heavy rainfall in the city when a six- to seven-year-old child fell into a sewage drain near Kacha Stop on IJP Road and went missing.

According to Rescue sources, five emergency vehicles, including an ambulance, water rescue unit, fire vehicle, rescue vehicle and a medical response team, were dispatched to the scene immediately after the incident was reported. A search and rescue operation was launched without delay to locate the child.

Meanwhile, rainfall was recorded in several parts of the city. The highest rainfall of 33mm was recorded in Gawalmandi, followed by 19mm in Kachehri, 17mm in Shamsabad, 16mm in New Katarian and 14mm in Pirwadhai.
