Achievement: Tarbela school principal earns PhD

Five of his research articles have been published in national and international journals.

Tariq Mehmood has successfully passed the thesis defence and earned his PhD in Education from Preston University. The defence was conducted on September 13 at the main campus of the university. The jury was headed by the university’s Vice Chancellor Dr Anwar Hassan Siddique.


Others in the panel included Faculty of Education Dean Professor Dr Muhammad Rashid, Psychology Department head Professor Dr Alay Ahmad, all faculty members of the Education Department and PhD scholars.

The PhD degree, which is recognised by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, was conferred upon Mehmood after the successful defence of his dissertation. Five of his research articles have been published in national and international journals.

Mehmood is the Principal at Government Centennial Model High School Tarbela in Haripur District, and an employee of the Elementary & Secondary Education Department of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). He has also served as district officer and executive district officer in Haripur district. He served as the Principal Benevolent Public School and College Peshawar.

He holds an MPhil in Education from Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, a Masters of Education and Urdu Literature from the University of Punjab, Lahore and an MA degree in Pakistan Studies from Bahauddin Zakriya University, Multan.
