Taylor Swift reaches $2 billion fortune as Forbes names her richest female musician
The singer’s catalogue strategy and touring success continue reshaping the business side of popular music globally

Taylor Swift has reached another major career milestone, with Forbes estimating that her net worth has climbed to $2bn, making her the richest female musician in the world.
The publication included Swift in its newly released Iconoclast 50 list, a collection of influential figures from business, technology, entertainment and philanthropy. According to Forbes, Swift’s fortune has grown dramatically over the past several years thanks to a combination of blockbuster touring, successful album releases and her highly publicised campaign to regain control of her music catalogue.
The singer first achieved billionaire status during the unprecedented success of the ERAS TOUR, which ran across 2023 and 2024. The global trek became the highest grossing concert tour in history, generating approximately $2.2bn in revenue and establishing a new benchmark for live entertainment.
Swift’s financial growth has not been driven by touring alone. Her decision to re record much of her earlier catalogue after the sale of her original master recordings transformed industry discussions about artist ownership. Through the release of the Taylor’s Version albums, she successfully encouraged millions of fans to embrace the new recordings while increasing her direct control over the music that helped build her career.
Forbes noted that the strategy allowed royalties from those recordings to flow directly back to Swift, while also inspiring conversations throughout the music business about artists owning their work. The publication described her re recording project as one of the most influential business decisions made by a modern recording artist.
Recent releases have further strengthened her commercial standing. Albums including The Tortured Poets Department and Life of a Showgirl continued her run of chart success, while demand for physical editions, streaming numbers and merchandise remained exceptionally strong.
Another significant factor in her growing fortune was her reported purchase of her original masters. Forbes estimated that Swift spent around $360m to regain ownership of recordings that had been at the centre of a years long dispute. The acquisition marked the culmination of a battle that became one of the defining stories in the modern music industry.
The latest valuation places Swift among a small group of entertainment figures whose wealth extends beyond traditional music earnings. While she is now recognised by Forbes as the richest female musician, the publication reported that rapper and entrepreneur Jay Z remains the wealthiest living musician overall, with an estimated net worth of $2.8bn.
The milestone arrives during another busy period for Swift. She is preparing to release the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Toy Story 5 and is also set to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Reports have additionally linked her name to wedding plans with fiancé Travis Kelce, although details have not been officially confirmed.
