From Baku bread-making to wheat shortages
Kundi questions Punjab CM's priorities

K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday took aim at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for restricting inter-provincial wheat transfer.
"If Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz could be seen making bread in Baku, why has she been unable to ensure wheat supply to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa," the governor questioned sarcastically while speaking to media representatives.
"Any restriction on wheat is a violation of the Constitution. Bringing wheat from Punjab is an even more difficult task than bringing gold biscuits," he said, urging the prime minister to resolve the issue with "Shehbaz Speed," or alternatively remove the barriers in wheat procurement from Sindh.
The governor further said that restrictions on wheat movement were against the spirit of the Constitution and accused the federal system of depriving K-P of its due share of resources.
The governor added that leaders of the PML-N from K-P should raise their voice for the rights of the province, arguing that federal policies were depriving K-P of its rightful resources, including electricity, water and financial dues.
He blasted restrictions on wheat supply to the province, questioning federal policy consistency and calling for coordinated efforts between the Centre and provinces to address mounting governance and resource disputes.
He said wheat restrictions amounted to a violation of constitutional principles.
He added that political leadership should prioritise the welfare of citizens over administrative bottlenecks, saying that all political stakeholders must work together for the resolution of provincial issues.
The governor said provincial institutions needed to work together in the interest of K-P's rights, while also stressing that broader inter-provincial cooperation was essential to resolve recurring policy tensions over essential commodities such as wheat.
