At least 25 confirmed cases of dengue fever were reported in Islamabad’s three main public hospitals on Monday, taking the number of cases in the city to around 250, sources revealed.
According to statistics collected from hospital sources, 21 confirmed cases of dengue were reported at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and two each at Polyclinic Hospital and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital.
And with 600 suspected patients of dengue reported from Rawalpindi, the fight against dengue is entering a crucial phase, said a government official.
The civic agency of the capital recently closed down all the fountains in the city and announced fumigation throughout the city and the breeding spots of the dengue mosquitoes.
CDA spokesperson Ramzan Sajid on Monday said, “We have given instructions to the citizens of the capital to immediately lodge a complaint whenever and wherever they see any leaking pipeline, so that action can be taken.”
Sajid said the monitoring teams are checking such things on a daily basis and immediate action is taken whenever any complaint is being lodged.
Similarly, “the government officials in Rawalpindi have intensified the measures to curtail dengue on the directions of the CM”, added another official.
