LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned till October 6 the hearing on a petition challenging the appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as the auditor general of Pakistan. Advocate AK Dogar submitted the letter of attorney on behalf of the petitioner and sought time for preparation. The petitioner, Advocate Rana Illmuddin, says that Akhtar Buland Rana should not have been appointed to ‘such an important post’ in view of serious allegations against him. He says that the decision to appoint Rana as the auditor general was meant to cover up corruption. He said that charges against Rana included obtaining Canadian nationality without prior permission from the government, travelling abroad on three Pakistani passports, using two national identity cards and sexual assault of an employee.
