RAWALPINDI:

A man and his son were shot dead in an alleged ambush linked to a long-running land dispute and litigation in the Mahandar area within the jurisdiction of Mandra Police Station on Tuesday last (May 26), police said.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), complainant Muhammad Afzal of Mohra Piro Daryal in Gujar Khan, stated that he, along with his brother Javed and relatives Sabeel, Luqman and Muhammad Zain, had travelled to Tharjial village to visit and attend to their cousin, Muhammad Masood.

The family was returning home on motorcycles late at night when they reached near a brick kiln in Dhok Lohdara. Afzal alleged that armed suspects, identified as Ghulam Rasool and Haroon, who were allegedly lying in wait and carrying Kalashnikov rifles and other modern weapons, intercepted them.

The complainant said the suspects were recognised in the headlights of the motorcycles before they allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Javed and his son Sabeel died at the scene. The attackers fled while displaying their weapons.

Afzal alleged that the killings stemmed from a land dispute and ongoing litigation, accusing Ghulam Rasool, Haroon and several accomplices, including Zahoor Ahmad, Ghafoor Ahmad, Muhammad Khawar and Eizan, of conspiring to murder his brother and nephew.
