CM orders inspection of buses, terminals

Warns that route permits of buses involved in overcharging, as well as licences of terminals, would be cancelled

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the deputy commissioners and district police officers to inspect buses and bus terminals to ensure that fare lists are prominently displayed to prevent overcharging.

She directed authorities to ensure the provision of cold drinking water at bus terminals.

According to a statement, CM Maryam Nawaz warned that the route permits of buses involved in overcharging, as well as licences of terminals, would be cancelled.

She also ordered that transport vehicles operating without fitness certificates should not be allowed to run in the Eidul Azha season.

The chief minister instructed the transport department and district administrations to enforce the ban on passenger overloading.

The transport department has established a helpline for passengers' complaints.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed grief over the loss of 11 lives in an accident on the Swat Expressway.
