Fans of Euphoria flooded social media with criticism after the sixth episode of Season 3 aired on May 18, 2026, with many viewers describing it as the weakest instalment of the season so far. The episode, titled “Stand Still And See”, placed a major focus on Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie and featured several provocative scenes that quickly became a talking point online.

One sequence showed Cassie posing for revealing bikini photographs inside a strip club before participating in an unusual photoshoot involving a live python while completely nude. The controversial scenes immediately sparked debate across X and TikTok, where viewers questioned the direction of the series and criticised what they viewed as excessive shock value.

The episode also followed Rue, played by Zendaya, as her criminal activities intensified while law enforcement secretly monitored her phone. Elsewhere, tensions continued between Rue and Jules, while Maddy faced conflict at the Silver Slipper. The episode concluded with Rue surviving a near fatal incident connected to a spiritual vision, while Cassie received a disturbing package linked to Nate.

Despite praise for Zendaya’s emotional scenes, many fans argued that the episode struggled with pacing and lacked meaningful progression. Several viewers described the instalment as “filler”, while others complained that long monologues and side plots slowed the story down.

One viewer wrote online that the episode felt “too slow” and lacked the chaos that originally made Euphoria so popular. Another called it “the worst episode of the season”, criticising the balance of screen time between characters and claiming the storyline had become repetitive.

Cassie’s scenes generated the largest reaction online, particularly the snake photoshoot sequence, which some viewers described as bizarre and unnecessary. Sydney Sweeney’s performance has remained one of the most discussed aspects of the series throughout the season, especially after recent online debate surrounding Cassie’s increasingly provocative OnlyFans inspired storyline.

The backlash arrives as Season 3 continues to divide audiences. While some fans remain invested in the darker and more experimental direction of the series, others believe the show has moved too far away from the emotional realism that made earlier seasons successful.

Even with the criticism, Euphoria remains one of HBO’s most heavily discussed programmes online, regularly dominating trending topics after new episodes air.
