Art contest celebrates women's empowerment

PCA organises themed painting contest highlighting dignity, importance of women

ISLAMABAD:

The Punjab Council of the Arts (PCA), Rawalpindi, organised a vibrant painting competition under the theme "Hum Maaen, Hum Behnein, Hum Betiyan – Qaumon Ki Izzat Hum Se Hai" to highlight the dignity, strength and significance of women in society.

Students from various educational institutions enthusiastically participated, expressing their ideas and creativity through artwork portraying the role of mothers, sisters and daughters in building a respectful and progressive society. The event aimed to encourage young artists and provide them with a constructive platform to showcase their talent and creative vision.

Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Shazia Rizwan attended the ceremony as chief guest. Addressing participants, she praised the initiative of PCA Rawalpindi, stating that women are the foundation of every progressive society and that such activities help promote awareness, respect and positive values among youth. She added that art serves as a powerful medium for effectively conveying social messages and cultural values.

Director PCA Rawalpindi Muhammad Shakoor also addressed the gathering and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students. He said creative activities such as painting competitions help young artists gain confidence and provide them with an opportunity to express their thoughts and emotions positively through art.

The competition was judged by renowned artists Zarar Haider Babri, Ahmed Habib and Najam Kazmi, who carefully evaluated the submitted artwork. Emaan Khan Lodhi secured first position and received a cash prize of Rs50,000, while Zahra Javed Khan claimed second position with Rs30,000. The third position went to Atika Fatima, who was awarded Rs20,000. Certificates of participation were distributed among all contestants in recognition of their efforts and creativity.

The event concluded in a lively and inspiring atmosphere and was widely appreciated by the audience, teachers, parents and participants.
