Rising cardiac cases trigger call for awareness

ISLAMABAD:

Chairman of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Dr Muhammad Farqad Alamgir highlighted awareness of cardiac and heart diseases, stressing timely screening, routine tests, empty-stomach walking, small frequent meals, disciplined control of blood sugar, vigilant blood pressure management, while stating that under the Chief Minister PIC is being developed with modern facilities, new hospitals, enhanced budget support.

Speaking exclusively to the state-run PTV News, Chairman of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Dr Muhammad Farqad Alamgir, said that under the Chief Minister's vision, free treatment for all cardiac patients is being ensured along with up gradation and establishment of new hospitals in Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore, supported by a substantial budget, free medicines and additional healthcare facilities.

He emphasised awareness of cardiac diseases, stressing timely screening and early diagnosis as key to prevention along with healthy lifestyle practices for better heart care. He further advised the public to adopt essential cardiac precautions, including regular screening, timely medical checkups, balanced diet, routine physical activity, avoidance of smoking, stress management and strict control of blood pressure and blood sugar to reduce the risk of heart diseases and ensure better long-term heart health.
