The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, has reached the 100-day mark, with authorities focusing on a potentially crucial DNA sample that is now being analyzed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to a new report, the DNA evidence was collected from Nancy Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, where she was believed to have been abducted in the early hours of February 1. Investigators have not publicly disclosed the exact nature of the sample, but law enforcement sources say the results could play a pivotal role in identifying a suspect.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after returning home from dinner with family. Surveillance footage later showed a masked individual outside her residence, and blood found at the scene was confirmed to be hers. Authorities have said they believe she was taken against her will.

The New York Post reported that the DNA was initially sent to a private forensic lab in Florida before being forwarded to the FBI crime lab for more advanced testing. Former investigators told the outlet that if the sample is suitable for genetic genealogy, it could help authorities identify relatives of the person who left it and eventually narrow down a suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently said investigators are “closer” to solving the case, though he declined to provide specific details. The FBI continues to offer a $100,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location or an arrest, while the Guthrie family has increased its own reward offer to $1 million.

Over Mother’s Day weekend, Savannah Guthrie shared an emotional tribute to her mother, promising, “We will never stop looking for you.”

While no arrests have been made, investigators remain hopeful that the ongoing DNA analysis will provide the breakthrough needed to solve one of the most closely followed missing persons cases of the year.
