RAWALPINDI:

Judge Jawad Hassan Abbas of the Special Anti-Narcotics Court acquitted two accused, Siraj and Anwar Zeb, in a narcotics case involving 84 kilograms of charas and 98 kilograms of opium, citing lack of direct evidence.

Advocate Shan Zeb Khan, appearing before the court, argued that the Anti-Narcotics Force had arrested both men from public transport last year and that narcotics recovered from a vehicle could not be attributed to any individual merely on suspicion.

He maintained that no narcotics were recovered from the personal possession of either accused, while the driver and conductor also did not identify them as owners of the seized drugs.

The defence counsel further stated that both accused had clean past records.
