'The Housemaid' author, Freida McFadden’s, The Divorce set for film adaptation
Freida McFadden’s upcoming thriller The Divorce is being adapted into feature film by Studiocanal

Freida McFadden’s upcoming thriller The Divorce is heading to the big screen after Studiocanal secured the rights to adapt the novel into a feature film.
The project marks another collaboration between the bestselling author and the studio following the commercial success of The Housemaid adaptation.
According to reports, Studiocanal won a competitive bidding process for the rights and will fully finance the film while co-producing it with Working Title.
The Divorce is scheduled for publication on May 26 through Poisoned Pen Press, an imprint of Sourcebooks.
The novel centres on Naomi, a woman who becomes consumed by the younger partner her husband leaves her for. Her growing obsession reportedly leads to the uncovering of hidden secrets.
Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin are overseeing development and production for Studiocanal, while the project is being led through Studiocanal Stories, the company’s literary adaptation division.
McFadden expressed enthusiasm about the adaptation in a statement, saying, “I’m delighted to be working with the teams at Studiocanal and Working Title to bring The Divorce to the big screen.”
“From the start, they have come forward with an unparalleled enthusiasm and a strong vision for how to get this project off the ground. I can’t wait to see what unfolds!” she added.
Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh described the novel as “ambitious, aspirational and irresistibly addictive storytelling at its best.”
The adaptation follows the release of The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig and starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. The film reportedly earned more than $400 million worldwide. A sequel based on The Housemaid’s Secret is currently targeting a 2027 release.
The release date and casting details for The Divorce adaptation have not yet been announced.
