RDA scam suspect denied bail
An accountability court in Rawalpindi has rejected for the second time the bail application of central accused Jamal Taj in the Rs3 billion fraud scandal in the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
Accountability Court Judge Ejaz Ali announced the reserved verdict, observing that prima facie the fraud had taken place in the RDA and documentary evidence, including bank transactions, was available on record.
The court ruled that the accused could not be granted bail.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi had registered the case last year on the report of the DG RDA.
The arrested accused's brother had served as Director Finance in the RDA and reportedly died under mysterious circumstances in Sialkot after registration of the case.
According to investigators, money from the official RDA account was allegedly transferred into the personal account of the arrested accused.
