Killing outside police station sparks reshuffle

Police have registered a case in connection with the killing of a suspect outside the main gate of Dhamial Police Station.

Police lodged the FIR on the complaint of the victim Wahab's father, Mohammad Nadeem, nominating six suspects while two others remain unidentified.

According to the FIR, Nauman Arif, Daniyal and two unidentified suspects have been accused of directly opening fire on the deceased.

Meanwhile, Shafiq Jadun, Nabeel Arif, Umair Khan and Raja Ilyas have been accused of planning, facilitating and instigating the murder.

The FIR states that on Wednesday evening, the complainant had brought Wahab to appear before Dhamial police in connection with a murder case.

When they reached near a school close to the police station, four armed men riding two motorcycles arrived and opened indiscriminate fire on Wahab.

As a result of the firing, Wahab sustained multiple bullet wounds to his abdomen, arm, legs and lower back and was critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered the case and initiated efforts to arrest the suspects, while investigation from different angles is underway. So far, no suspect has been arrested.

Following the deteriorating crime situation in the city and the target killing incident outside Dhamial Police Station, large-scale transfers and postings have been carried out in Rawalpindi police.

Police authorities issued fresh appointments after changing station house officers (SHOs) at six police stations.
