Superman: Man of Tomorrow continues to expand its cast, with Matthew Lillard officially joining the upcoming sequel from DC Studios, according to a report by Deadline.

The film is directed and written by James Gunn and is currently in production ahead of its planned July 2027 release.

While details about Lillard’s role remain under wraps, his addition marks another high-profile casting in the growing ensemble. David Corenswet will return as Superman, following his debut as the Man of Steel in the franchise’s latest instalment.

The sequel features a star-studded lineup, including Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Other confirmed cast members include Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

Additional roles are being played by Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Adria Arjona, and Aaron Pierre, highlighting the film’s expansive approach to the DC Universe.

The original Superman film performed strongly at the box office, surpassing $300 million domestically and reaffirming the franchise’s popularity. The sequel aims to build on that momentum as DC Studios continues to reshape its cinematic universe under Gunn’s leadership.

Lillard’s casting follows a busy period for the actor, including his return to the Scream franchise and appearances in major television projects. His involvement in Man of Tomorrow further signals the film’s ambition as one of DC’s key upcoming releases.
