Female biker honoured after UK-to-Pakistan ride

First-ever female Pakistani biker, Gulafshan Tariq, lauded for promoting tourism

The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) welcomed Pakistan's first female biker, Gulafshan Tariq, at its Head Office Islamabad as she successfully completed her remarkable overland journey from London to Pakistan.

The reception ceremony was attended by Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, PTDC Managing Director Aftabur Rehman Rana, other senior officials from PTDC and members of the media.

Gulafshan Tariq was acknowledged for her role in promoting Pakistan as a destination for adventure tourism and overlanding. Her journey also stands as a powerful symbol of women empowerment, inspiring women to break barriers and pursue their ambitions in adventure travel.

Secretary Wani, in his remarks, commended Gulafshan's inspiring journey and highlighted its significance in projecting a positive and progressive image of Pakistan globally. He said such initiatives not only promote tourism but also strengthen women empowerment, cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity, encouraging travellers to explore Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Gulafshan shared her experiences of traveling across Pakistan and expressed her appreciation for the hospitality, safety and support she received throughout her journey.
