Security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have achieved a major milestone by foiling 246 drone attack attempts in the current year, authorities confirmed.
According to police officials, terrorists have adopted a new tactic of carrying out attacks via unmanned aerial vehicles, but modern anti-drone technology has effectively neutralised all threats.
Statistics reveal that the highest number of attempts, 215, were made in the Bannu region, indicating that the area remained a primary target for terrorist elements. In addition, 15 drone attacks were thwarted in Dera Ismail Khan, seven in Malakand, and four in Peshawar. Two attempts each were foiled in Mardan and Kohat, while one such bid was stopped in the Hazara region.
Police said all drones were tracked and disabled using advanced anti-drone systems, resulting in zero casualties across all incidents.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa IGP Zulfiqar Hamid stated that the use of drones represents a dangerous shift in militant tactics, requiring cutting-edge technology and continuous monitoring to counter. "The timely strategy adopted by police has not only protected civilian lives but also played a critical role in maintaining law and order across the province," the IGP added.
