PESHAWAR:

In a bid to bring transparency and public participation into the development planning process, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to directly involve citizens in shaping the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2026–27.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, announced on Wednesday that the ADP has reached its final stages in line with the vision of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and under the directives of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

"To make the development planning process more transparent, inclusive, and people-centric, the provincial government has decided to directly involve the public," Shafi Jan said.

For this purpose, a dedicated online link will be shared via the social media platforms of all Deputy Commissioners across the province, enabling citizens to convey their suggestions, feedback, and concerns directly to the government. The portal will remain open from May 4 to May 8, allowing the public to share input on development priorities across various sectors.

Officials clarified that viable public proposals and recommendations received during this five-day window will be incorporated into the ADP 2026–27, ensuring that development initiatives align with the genuine needs and priorities of the people.

Shafi Jan noted that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to participatory governance and underscores the importance of public input in policymaking. He further stated that the move will enhance the quality of governance, adding that the provincial government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and public welfare as key pillars of its policy framework.
