LAHORE:

An accountability court on Tuesday adjourned proceedings in a corruption and kickbacks reference against former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi and other accused until May 7.

The case, filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), relates to alleged corruption and receipt of kickbacks in development projects in Gujrat.

During the hearing, former principal secretary to the Punjab Assembly, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, along with other co-accused, appeared before the court.

NAB witnesses were also present to record their statements.

However, defence counsel Arshad Javed, representing Parvez Elahi, did not appear for cross-examination.

A junior lawyer informed the court that Javed was engaged in proceedings at the Lahore High Court.
