KARACHI:

As the economy is rebounding, the industrial city of Gujranwala, widely regarded as a byproduct of Pakistan's Green Revolution in the 1960s, is set to showcase its industrial strength, innovation and craftsmanship at a three-day exhibition at the Karachi Expo Center from April 10 to 12.

The exhibition, organised by the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to highlight the diversity and competitiveness of the industrial base by bringing leading brands and manufacturers to the country's largest commercial hub.

Pakistan's economy is showing signs of cautious optimism in early 2026. After years of high inflation and external pressures, the country has achieved a degree of macroeconomic stability. Inflation has eased significantly, averaging about 5-7% in recent months, while the State Bank of Pakistan has lowered its policy rate to 10.5%, boosting private sector credit and consumer demand. Real GDP growth reached 3.7% in the first quarter of FY2026, driven by a strong industrial rebound of 9.4% and steady remittances that continue to support the external account.

Officials said the event will serve as a platform to strengthen inter-city trade linkages, promote business-to-business (B2B) interactions, and provide exposure to innovative products and technologies developed by Gujranwala's industries.

Participants will showcase a wide range of products, including plastic furniture, home appliances, kitchenware, ceramics, sanitary ware and electrical goods. The exhibition is expected to attract a large number of visitors, including traders, investors and families, offering them an opportunity to explore quality products at discounted prices.

In addition to product displays, the event will feature networking opportunities for businesses seeking partnerships, distribution channels and expansion into new markets. Industry representatives believe such exhibitions play a crucial role in boosting domestic commerce and supporting small and medium enterprises.

Business leaders noted that bringing Gujranwala's industrial ecosystem to Karachi not only enhances visibility but also strengthens confidence in locally manufactured products, encouraging consumers to support domestic industries.

Organisers have also planned various engagement activities to enhance visitor experience. Lucky draws will be held in halls four and five throughout the three days, with special prizes for families attending the exhibition. The event will remain open daily from 10am to 8pm.

The exhibition is being supported by key institutions, including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the Export Development Fund and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.
