Pakistan supports peace in Afghanistan: Khar

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan supports peace in Afghanistan and it is working closely with the Afghan government and the international community for the return of peace and stability in the region. She was speaking to her Afghan counterpart in New York on Sunday, reported Express 24/7.

She added that Pakistan fully supports President Hamid Karzai’s initiative for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process.

Khar also said that a stable Afghanistan is in the favour of the entire region.

On Saturday, the foreign minister also warned the United States against sending ground troops in North Waziristan to fight the Haqqani network.

She said that there are red lines and rules of engagement with America, which should not be broken.

The foreign minister went to New York city to attend the United Nation General Assembly session when Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani cancelled his visit because of floods which have hit southern Pakistan.

One must understand that peace and stablity in Afghanistan is not only in favour of Pakistan or this particular region but whole world. We fought for a decade in different parts of this region but yet nothing important or impresive result has come up. The soviet invasion in Afghanistan is the example where russian troops along with heavy machinery fought against these groups but finally had to leave throughing an excuse from Afghanistan. How ever the time is changed, faces are changed but still the cause is same. Pakistan also has realized that these so called Jihadis can never ever be defeated. An other great example to understand the whole scenario is that: these groups are getting expanded day by day. at the time of 9/11, only 600 (around) so called terrorist were on hit list but now the number is raised to thousands of people, one need to understand that why is that so far? There is no doubt that cleaning surface of Afghanistan was not only agenda of US but there were few other reasons to launch its forces here, but finally one thing has realized internationaly that promoting peace process and having talks with these groups is the only solution to secure onself and once again Pakistan posses the same importance to perform role a veriable between US/Afghanistan and these groups which are known as Taliban or Haqqani Network etc.
