Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan supports peace in Afghanistan and it is working closely with the Afghan government and the international community for the return of peace and stability in the region. She was speaking to her Afghan counterpart in New York on Sunday, reported Express 24/7.

She added that Pakistan fully supports President Hamid Karzai’s initiative for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process.

Khar also said that a stable Afghanistan is in the favour of the entire region.

On Saturday, the foreign minister also warned the United States against sending ground troops in North Waziristan to fight the Haqqani network.

She said that there are red lines and rules of engagement with America, which should not be broken.

The foreign minister went to New York city to attend the United Nation General Assembly session when Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani cancelled his visit because of floods which have hit southern Pakistan.
