Amazon MGM’s upcoming dramedy, Honeymoon with Harry, is set to begin production in Queensland, Australia, this April, with Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal leading the cast. Sarah Pidgeon, known for I Know What You Did Last Summer, is also in talks to join the project, rounding out a high-profile ensemble.

Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the film adapts Bart Baker’s novel and follows a rough-around-the-edges man, played by Gyllenhaal, who finds himself on an unexpected journey alongside his fiancée’s overprotective father, portrayed by Costner. Set against the lush backdrop of a tropical island honeymoon, the two men clash, spar over differences, and gradually form an unlikely bond.

Filming will take place in Brisbane as well as the iconic Whitsunday Islands, locations chosen to highlight Queensland’s scenic beauty. Screen Queensland highlighted the economic impact of the shoot, estimating the production will contribute $51 million to the local economy and employ around 215 people. John-Paul Langbroek, the state’s Minister for the Arts, emphasised that these incentives continue to attract major international projects while boosting tourism and showcasing the region globally.

Jacqui Feeney, CEO of Screen Queensland, praised the partnership with Amazon MGM, noting that the state’s screen industry offers high-quality expertise and infrastructure. She added that the competitive incentives available make it an ideal destination for large-scale productions, combining technical skill with striking locations.
