Interviews for exam board chiefs begin
.

The Punjab Higher Education Commission will begin interviews on Monday for the appointment of permanent chairmen for nine education boards across the province.
Shortlisting of candidates has already been completed.
The posts of chairman, secretary and controller of examinations in the education boards - considered three of the most important positions - have remained vacant for between one-and-a-half to three years across Punjab.
Due to these vacancies, the functioning of education boards had virtually come to a standstill and they were being run through temporary acting officers, which further complicated administrative matters.
After prolonged protests and strikes by board employees, the process for appointing permanent chairmen, secretaries and controllers began in January this year.
Interviews will initially be conducted only for the posts of chairman. After their completion, interviews will be held for secretaries and then for controllers of examinations.
For the nine chairmanships, 27 candidates are in the race. Similarly, 25 candidates are competing for nine posts of controller of examinations, while 23 candidates are contesting nine secretary positions.
Four female officers are also among those trying their luck for these posts.
