Steven Spielberg attended this year’s Academy Awards in support of the film Hamnet, where he is credited as a producer through his company Amblin Partners.

Although Spielberg is widely known for his work as a director, his appearance at the ceremony is linked to his involvement in the production of Hamnet rather than a film he directed.

The director’s upcoming project, Disclosure Day, starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, is scheduled for release in June.

Hamnet is directed by Chloé Zhao and tells the story of William Shakespeare and his wife as they deal with the loss of their son. The drama stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal in leading roles.

Buckley received a nomination for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her performance in the film. Hamnet was nominated in several categories at the ceremony, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film earned a total of eight nominations.

Throughout his career, Spielberg has received a record 14 nominations for Best Picture as a producer. These nominations include films he directed as well as productions where he served only as a producer.

If Hamnet were to win the Best Picture award, it would mark Spielberg’s fourth Academy Award. He previously won Best Director and Best Picture for Schindler’s List and received another Best Director award for Saving Private Ryan.
