Turkish music icon Nükhet Duru has revealed that The Weeknd continues to send her royalties after sampling one of her songs in his hit track Often.

In a recent interview, Duru spoke about the financial success she has seen since the global pop star incorporated elements of her music into the 2014 track.

“The Weeknd keeps sending me money constantly because he used my song in his song Often,” Duru said. “I made good money from that.”

The revelation quickly caught The Weeknd’s attention. The singer shared a screenshot of a post quoting Duru’s remarks on his Instagram Stories, responding with a short but warm message: “My pleasure,” followed by a red heart emoji.

Often, which appeared on The Weeknd’s album Beauty Behind the Madness, became one of his early breakthrough hits and helped cement his rise as one of the biggest names in global pop and R&B.

Duru’s comments highlight how international artists can benefit when their work is sampled in major global releases, as royalty payments continue to generate income long after the song’s release.

Fans online praised the exchange between the two artists, noting the respect shown toward the veteran Turkish singer while celebrating the lasting impact of her music.
