After the death of fitness YouTuber Stephanie Buttermore, attention has turned to an earlier social media post in which she opened up about severe anxiety and her decision to step away from the internet.
Buttermore, whose passing was confirmed by the team of her fiancé Jeff Nippard, had largely disappeared from social media in 2024, leaving many followers wondering about her absence.
In her last Instagram update from April 2024, she explained that stepping away from social media helped improve her mental health after years of struggling with intense anxiety.
The fitness creator said the anxiety had once been so severe that it made her feel like she couldn’t breathe and even prevented her from leaving her house.
Despite the difficulties, Buttermore said taking time away from social media had allowed her mental health to improve significantly. The post has resurfaced following news of her death, with many fans revisiting her words about mental health and online pressure.
Buttermore was widely known for combining scientific research with fitness education. She held a PhD in biomedical sciences from the University of South Florida before transitioning into online content creation.
