KJ Apa and Mr. Fantasy spark fresh identity theories after the pair were spotted dining together in Los Angeles

KJ Apa and viral musician Mr. Fantasy have been seen together publicly for the first time, reigniting widespread online speculation that the two may somehow still be connected despite appearing side by side.

The sighting occurred on May 23 after TikTok user @angelaryan03 shared footage that appeared to show the Riverdale actor dining with Mr. Fantasy at Great White restaurant in West Hollywood. Celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi also reposted images of the alleged meeting, quickly fuelling fresh discussion across social media and X.

Fans have spent months theorising that Mr. Fantasy — the breakout musician who rose to fame on TikTok in 2025 — is actually Apa in disguise. The speculation began after internet users noticed similarities between the two, including matching tattoos, facial features and mannerisms. Some fans have also questioned whether Mr. Fantasy’s appearance involves wigs or prosthetics.

Despite the latest public sighting, many online users remain unconvinced. Some suggested the meeting itself may have been staged to continue the mystery surrounding the musician’s identity.

“That IS KJ but that is NOT Mr. Fantasy,” one fan wrote on X, while another posted, “I love how far he’s willing to go for the bit.” A separate user joked, “Seeing them together somehow convinced me even more.”

The comments came after Mr. Fantasy released a music video featuring several of Apa’s former Riverdale co-stars, including Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch.
