'The Testaments' trailer teases rebellion among young women in Gilead
Hulu's 'The Testaments' follows Agnes and Daisy as they navigate Aunt Lydia's school and fight for change

Hulu has unveiled the official trailer for "The Testaments," the highly anticipated sequel series to the Emmy-winning drama "The Handmaid's Tale."
Based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 bestselling novel, the new series is set to premiere on April 8 with three episodes.
The trailer offers a first look at the next chapter in the dystopian world of Gilead, years after the events of the original series. The story follows two young teenagers coming of age in the oppressive theocracy: Agnes (Chase Infiniti), a dutiful student at Aunt Lydia's elite preparatory school for future wives, and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a recent arrival who converted from Canada.
Footage depicts the rigid indoctrination at the school, where young women are trained in obedience. "We gather here tonight to bring women back to their rightful place," a voice declares in the trailer. Scenes show a baptism, a bus accident, and the growing friendship between Agnes and Daisy, which leads Agnes to question everything she has been taught. In a pivotal moment, Agnes states, "We had no idea what we were capable of. It was time for us to change things."
According to the official logline, these young women have no tangible memories of life before Gilead. Facing lives of servitude and arranged marriages, they must search for allies—both new and old—to fight for their freedom.
The cast features Chase Infiniti and Lucy Halliday in the lead roles, alongside returning star Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia. They are joined by Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya.
Bruce Miller, the creator and showrunner of "The Handmaid's Tale," returns to helm "The Testaments" as creator and showrunner. He executive produces alongside Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, and others. Mike Barker directs the first three episodes and the season finale. The series is produced by MGM Television and 20th Television.
