Eminem has marked 18 years of sobriety, sharing a milestone chip engraved “XVIII” as he reflects on his recovery journey.

The rapper has been open about his struggles with addiction, which culminated in a near-fatal overdose in 2007.

In his documentary STANS, he recalled the turning point that led him to seek help, saying, “After the overdose, I came home going, ‘Yo, bro, I need something... I'm going to die if I don't do something’.”

He described the experience of waking up in hospital with little memory of what had happened. “I didn’t how what the f--- happened. It seemed like I fell asleep, and I woke up with tubes in me and s---. I wanted to get up. I couldn't move,” he said. The incident followed what he described as a “vicious cycle” of depression and dependency.

Following his recovery, Eminem released his 2009 album “Relapse” and began to view sobriety differently. “I realized I'm not embarrassed anymore about it, and I started treating sobriety like a superpower. I was proud of the fact that I could quit,” he said.

The latest milestone comes as his family marks a new chapter. His eldest daughter, Alaina Marie Scott, recently announced the birth of her first child with husband Matt Moeller.

Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote, “my heart outside my body she's everything and more. Scottie Marie Moeller born 4/14/26,” and added, “welcome to the world my sweet darling.”

She explained the inspiration behind the name, writing, “Scottie, in honor of my ‘scott sisters’. The women who have given the name and my life so much meaning.”
