ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court has fixed for hearing a review petition filed by PTI founding chairman Imran Khan against the termination of his right of defence in a Rs10 billion defamation suit filed by PM Shehbaz Sharif.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ayesha Malik will take up the matter on March 6 during the upcoming judicial week. Justice Hashim Kakar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will be part of the bench.

During the previous hearing, the apex court had stayed the trial proceedings and issued notice to the prime minister through his counsel.

Earlier, both the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court had upheld the decision to strike off the PTI founder's right of defence in the Rs10 billion damages case.

The PTI founder now moved a review petition challenging the decision to terminate his right of defence.
