Victim fatally injured after being called to clean room

LAHORE:

A government employee posted at the Punjab Assembly was shot dead in the MPA Hostel building in Islampura, police said, adding that a murder case had been registered against a suspect and an unidentified accomplice.

The victim, Naveed Masih, was employed at the Punjab Assembly and on duty at the Peoples House when the incident occurred. According to the first information report (FIR) registered at Islampura police station under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the complainant Shafiq Masih stated that he and his uncle were at home around 3:00pm on Friday when they received a call informing them that Naveed had been shot and was under treatment in Mayo Hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, the family found Naveed critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries.

As per the FIR, an assistant controller at the hostel, Mian Akram, told the family that one Haider Ali had approached him and asked that Naveed be sent to Room 14 on the third floor for cleaning. Shortly afterwards, Haider allegedly returned and informed the administration that Naveed had suffered a gunshot wound.
