Germany proposes CISTA climate data project

ISLAMABAD:

Germany has proposed a new climate information project to strengthen Pakistan's data management and evidence-based decision-making framework during a meeting between its ambassador and the federal climate minister in Islamabad.

Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, Ina Lepel called on Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Malik, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

During the meeting, the ambassador briefed the minister on ongoing cooperation between Germany and the Ministry of Climate Change, particularly through the German development agency GIZ. The collaboration covers climate adaptation and resilience, emission control strategies, capacity building, green initiatives and pilot projects aimed at strengthening Pakistan's climate response.

The ambassador also informed the minister about a proposed project titled CISTA (Integrated Climate Information Services Value Chains for Transformative Climate Action), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. The project seeks to establish integrated climate services and improve data systems.
