RAWALPINDI:

A heavy crane was brought to Rawalpindi from Lahore to clear the railway track blocked since the derailment of the engine and two coaches of the Green Line train the other day, railway officials and workers said on Thursday.

The incident occurred near Bakery Chowk on Wednesday. Railway operations on the route remained paralysed for six hours.

Railway officials later stated that the track has now been fully restored and train operations have resumed as normal. Fortunately, the Green Line train was empty at the time of the derailment.
