HYDERABAD:

A police station in Khairpur district was assaulted and ransacked on Wednesday night as armed men allegedly also freed two of their associates who were kept in the lockup of Khuhra police station. The police sources informed on Thursday that Rashid Bhutto and Shahzad Kaleri were taken away from the lock up by attackers allegedly belonging to Kaleri community.

IG Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident, directing the DIG Sukkur to arrest the suspects who fired gunshots, ransacked the police station and helped arrested suspects escape.

The Khairpur police on Thursday lodged an FIR under Anti Terrorism Act, nominating over 20 persons for the assault. SSP Dr Samiullah Soomro told the media that Tanveer Kaleri and some other suspects have also been arrested in a raid in Kaleri village. He said the police will round up every single person who took part in the attack.
