KARACHI:

A beggar woman was injured after a homeowner allegedly opened fire on her, mistaking her for a thief when she entered a house in Nusrat Bhutto Colony, within the jurisdiction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan Police Station, police said.

The woman reportedly entered the house after noticing that its main door was open. The homeowner, believing that a burglary attempt was underway, fired at her. As a result, the woman sustained a bullet injury to her arm.

Police arrived at the scene and shifted the injured woman to a hospital for medical treatment. The homeowner, identified as Fazal Khan Khattak, has been called to the police station for questioning.

Station House Officer Sarfaraz Commando said the injured woman was identified as Nasreen, a beggar and a resident of Malir. He added that initial information suggests she had entered the house, apparently to beg, though police are also investigating whether she intended to commit theft.
