Hilary Duff admits she intentionally crashed Lindsay Lohan’s 'Freaky Friday' premiere as teenaged rival
'I think absolutely yes, I was a teenager,' Hilary Duff said confirming she crashed the premiere in 2003

Hilary Duff has opened up about a long‑running pop‑culture rumor, finally admitting she intentionally crashed Lindsay Lohan’s Freaky Friday premiere in August 2003 during a feud between the two former Disney Channel stars. The confession came during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where Duff looked back on what she described as her “childhood nemesis” era. (billboard.com)
When asked point‑blank if she showed up to the premiere to spite Lohan, Duff confirmed, saying: “I think absolutely yes — I was a teenager.” She acknowledged that youth and rivalry played a major role in her decision to attend the event.
Duff explained that she was actually invited to the premiere by actor Chad Michael Murray, who starred in Freaky Friday alongside Lohan and later invited her as his guest. “He was like, ‘You should come with me,’ and I was like, ‘Mm‑hmm. Probably I should,’” she said, suggesting it was a mixture of teenage impulse and opportunity that led to her presence on the red carpet.
The rivalry between Duff and Lohan was one of the most talked‑about celeb feuds of the early 2000s, fueled in part by a love triangle involving late pop star Aaron Carter, a subplot that tabloids repeatedly spotlighted at the time.
Duff also addressed how the dynamic reversed months later, noting that Lohan showed up at the premiere of her film Cheaper by the Dozen later that year, which she saw as Lohan getting “a taste of her own medicine.”
Despite the drama, Duff said there are no hard feelings today. She shared that years after their feud, the two ran into each other at a club where Lohan asked, “Are we good?” to which Duff replied, “We’re good", before they toasted together, signaling the end of their teenage rivalry.
The candid interview comes as Duff promotes her new music and reflects on her early years in the spotlight, showing how much distance time has put between her and one of the early chapters of her career.
