Suspected TTP militant arrested in Karachi

SSP CID Fayyaz Khan says suicide jacket, Kalashnikov recovered from arrested man.

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh Police has claimed arresting a suspected militant from Karachi, Express 24/7 reported on Saturday.

Express 24/7 correspondent Sabin Agha reported Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fayyaz Khan had said a CID team picked up a suspected militant belonging to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city.

The arrested man has been identified as Masoodur Rehman Mehsud aka Pardesi. The team also recovered a suicide jacket and a Kalashnikov from him.

The SSP CID said Mehsud had been involved in militancy in Waziristan and was collecting funds in Karachi with the help of Khan Zaman Mehsud.

SSP Khan said he had been remanded till September 30.

Earlier, a top commander of the TTP was killed in a police encounter in Nowshera.

The commander Qari Basit was killed in the Tarkhel area of Nowshera district during a clash between the militants and the security forces, police officials had confirmed.

@Parvez What's with the Madarsas... They are places to learn deen... Stop your nonsense talks... According to the army Itself many of the TTP arrested were non-muslims... And their main aim is the same as yours... Stopping the Muslim kids to study and learn more about deen by closing the Madarsas.. .
