‘Scrubs’ revival returns to original roots with updated title sequence
The Scrubs revival brings back its original theme with a modern update to the title sequence

The revival of Scrubs is going back to basics, with a modern twist. Creator Bill Lawrence confirmed that the new series picks up as if the original run ended with Season 8, and the refreshed opening sequence reflects that continuity.
Set once again to Superman by Lazlo Bane, the theme used in Seasons 1 through 8, the revival ditches the Season 9 Med School variation and restores the familiar vibe longtime fans remember.
In the updated intro, John “J.D.” Dorian (Zach Braff), Christopher Turk (Donald Faison) and Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), now joined by a new class of interns, once again approach the show’s signature X-ray image.
However, in a nod to nearly two decades of medical advancements, the iconic X-ray is now digital, with J.D swiping it onto an iPad rather than physically placing it on a light board. Another update reflects the characters’ age: the sequence opens with J.D checking his watch as he and Turk lie on the floor, referencing a teased storyline involving the collapse of their long-running "Eagle” bit.
The first two episodes premiere February 25 on ABC, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.
Original cast members Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley will recur alongside Braff, Faison and Chalke, as the series revisits Sacred Heart with a blend of nostalgia and fresh faces.
