The xx announce group comeback with first show after 8 years in Mexico City
The announcement follows confirmation that The xx are scheduled to appear at major 2026 festivals including Coachella

The xx have confirmed their first live performance in eight years, announcing a return to the stage with a headline show in Mexico City on 4 April 2026.
The London trio — Jamie Smith, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim — shared the news on Instagram, revealing they will perform at the Pepsi Center WTC. The concert will mark their first full show together since the summer of 2018, following a period focused on solo projects and work on the follow-up to 2017’s I See You.
The post was captioned, “It’s been a while since our last show together as The xx. In 2026, we share our music with you all live again. This is the start of a next chapter together, and there’s no better place to return than in front of our Mexican fans. We’ve always felt a deep connection to Mexico - the warmth, the openness, the energy from the crowd."
While members of the band have reunited informally during Jamie xx solo performances in recent years, this will be their first official concert as a group in nearly a decade. The announcement follows confirmation that The xx are scheduled to appear at major 2026 festivals including Coachella, Kilby Block Party and Primavera Sound.
The Mexico City date is expected to serve as a lead-in to their wider festival run and potential new material. Fans have awaited further developments since the band began work on new music in 2023.
