No respite from water, power, gas outages in Ramazan

Alleged mismanagement and negligence by administrative officials of the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation have left residents of several areas without water supply even during the holy month of Ramazan. A lack of coordination between the Corporation and the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has further aggravated public hardship.

Despite repeated complaints, the corporation has reportedly failed to address the issue.

A senior administrative officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that aside from newly created administrative positions, a number of former WASA officials who previously proved complete failure in carrying out their duties, have still occupied the senior positions in the corporation.

Residents complain that several areas of Hyderabad, Latifabad, and Qasimabad have been facing either complete disruption or limited supply of drinking water during the holy month.

Affected residents say, corporation officials blame power utility for non-supply of water due to power outages. Consequently, residents of Hirabad, Pathan Colony, Sarfaraz Colony, Amil Colony, Tando Wali Muhammad, Salawat Para, Market area, and Tilak Chaari are struggling for every drop of water.

Despite the worsening crisis, neither the Water Corporation nor HESCO officials have taken effective measures to resolve the issue.

Due to the inefficiency of Water Corporation officials and staff, residents of affected areas are compelled to purchase water from tanker suppliers at high prices.
