ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on a plea seeking suspension of the sentences of lawyers Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in the controversial tweets case.

However, no date has been set for the next hearing. The court directed the registrar's office to prepare the case paper book.

Justice Muhammad Asif issued a two-page written order of the previous hearing.

On Jan 24, Imaan and her husband were sentenced to a total of 17 years' imprisonment on multiple charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) by a sessions court in Islamabad, sparking outrage among rights groups.
