Twitch responds to Kick over 70/30 subscription split dispute

Twitch replies to Kick after 70/30 split claims and 95/5 comparison

Twitch has responded publicly to rival streaming platform Kick after criticism over its 70/30 subscription revenue split for creators.

The exchange follows claims by streamers Kalei and StableRonaldo, who said Twitch had “randomly” removed their 70/30 subscriber revenue share.

Twitch denied the allegations, stating that longstanding contracts continue to be honoured and that confusion stemmed from a backend migration to a new payout system.

In a post on X on February 13, Kick referenced the situation, writing: “imagine getting 70/30 when everyone gets 95/5 on kick,” highlighting its own subscription model, which offers creators a 95/5 revenue split.

Twitch’s Head of Community, Merry Kish, replied directly to the post, stating: “95/5 of bots is still $0.” The response appeared to question the value of higher revenue percentages without substantial viewership, while also referencing wider debates about audience authenticity across streaming platforms. The comment attracted more than 150,000 views within hours.

Twitch previously addressed concerns from affected creators, explaining that some were being moved into its Level 2 Plus Program. In an email, the company said there was “no change to your overall experience or Net Revenue share” and added that “no action is required” to maintain the 70/30 split.

The exchange underscores ongoing competition between the two platforms as they seek to attract and retain high-profile streamers through revenue incentives and platform features.
