'Ocean’s Eleven' prequel will be set at 1962 Monaco Grand Prix with epic heist story line
The untitled 'Ocean's Eleven' prequel is slated for a June 2027 release

A new prequel to Ocean's Eleven is heading to the big screen, with filmmakers taking the iconic heist franchise back in time to one of Formula 1’s most legendary races.
According to ESPN, the upcoming film will be set during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, using the glamorous racing event as the backdrop for an “epic heist.”
The movie will serve as an origin story for the Ocean family, focusing not on Danny Ocean himself but on his parents. Actor Margot Robbie teased the premise, saying, “Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows, his parents.”
She added that audiences will see them “in their prime” as they pull off a major heist during the high-profile Monaco race weekend.
The project is part of Warner Bros.’ upcoming slate and continues Hollywood’s trend of blending major franchises with real-world historical events. The Monaco Grand Prix, first held in 1929, remains one of Formula 1’s most prestigious races, known for its tight street circuit and luxury setting.
In real life, the 1962 race was won by Bruce McLaren, adding a layer of historical context to the film’s fictional storyline.
While plot specifics remain under wraps, the film is expected to combine the stylish, high-stakes tone of the Ocean’s franchise with the spectacle of Formula 1, marking a fresh direction for the long-running series.
The untitled prequel is slated for a June 2027 release, positioning it as one of the most anticipated franchise expansions currently in development.
